—Receives highest number of first place awards across all custodians—

BOSTON, May 15, 2007 — Mellon Financial Corporation has again performed strongly in the ninth annual Global Investor Global Custody Awards, winning first place overall in 10 out of 35 categories. Mellon was placed among the top three providers in 25 out of 35 categories in the magazine's 2007 survey.

The 2007 survey results are based on feedback from the world's largest custody clients and asset managers who judged providers across a range of criteria.

The Global Investor results mirror Mellon's showing in other recent industry surveys. In January, Mellon received the highest number of "Top-Rated" recognitions and "Best in Class" awards in this year's Global Custodian Global Custody Survey. In the annual R&M Consultants global custody survey in March, Mellon outperformed its peer group of the world's largest global custodians for the sixth consecutive year.
