Mellon Remote Check Capture Service Focuses on Security Enhancements
Throughout 2007, Mellon Working Capital Solutions (WCS) will begin reviewing current methods for the secure deposit of funds, retrieval of images and access to deposit information via our Remote Check Capture service. The review is part of a process as mandated by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) to assess and strengthen security measures as needed for Internet-based products and services that involve access to customer information or the movement of funds.
Mellon's Remote Check Capture Service enables customers to scan and truncate checks and then electronically transmit the check images to Mellon, where the images are processed directly through deposit operations or through wholesale lockbox. The service, designed to assist customers in their efforts to speed access to payments received either by mail or over the counter, eliminates the physical movement of checks, potentially decreasing transportation costs, accelerating access to cash and enhancing customer service.
As with all of Mellon WCS' products and services, our efforts to ensure that customer and transaction information remain safe and confidential via our Remote Check Capture service are ongoing. We are implementing this added security review as part of the heightened precautionary measures as mandated by the FFIEC guidelines.
Current Mellon WCS customers who use Remote Check Capture will be receiving important information about upcoming security enhancements within the next month.
