Newton Investment Management Appoints Jason Pidcock to Lead Far East Team
LONDON, 19 July 2004 Newton Investment Management Limited, the UK asset management subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corporation, has announced the appointment of Jason Pidcock to lead its Far East ex-Japan team. Pidcock joins on 9 August as a Director of Investment Management reporting to Jeff Munroe, Chief Investment Officer of Newton, and will become the lead manager on Newton Oriental Fund and the Mellon Far East Equity Portfolio.
Pidcock joins Newton from BP Investment Management where he was responsible for over $700m of the BP Pension Fund invested in Australia, China, Hong Kong and South East Asia. At BP he was jointly responsible for asset allocation within the Asia-Pacific region, and an integral member of the team deciding regional allocation within the BP Pension Fund. The Pacific ex-Japan portfolio outperformed its benchmark index in each of the seven years since 1997 by average of 7.0%, is ranked no.1 over three and five years among the WM50 and has contributed significantly to BP Investment Management's performance over the three years to December 2003.1 Prior to joining BP, Pidcock spent almost three years at Henderson Global Investors where he was part of a team of six covering 11 stock markets in Pacific ex-Japan region.
