Mellon Working Capital Solutions Schedules Free Cyberconference for Healthcare Financial Managers on Exception Management Solutions

PITTSBURGH, October 25, 2006 — Mellon Working Capital Solutions (WCS) will present "Easing the Pain of Handling Back-office Exception Items," a free cyberconference on resolving payment issues faster and with less effort, on Tuesday, October 31, from 2-3 p.m. EST. Registration can be done by calling 1 800-424-3004 or online at www.mellon.com/healthcare.

"It's estimated that 20 percent of current lockbox payments are 'exception items' that must be removed from the normal process flow for special handling. While exception causes are many, the impact is consistent: more manual processing that slows an office's access to working capital," said Greg Cicero, senior vice president and head of Mellon WCS.

Mellon offers two solutions for handling exceptions. By providing lockbox clients with intra-day, Web-based access to check and document images, its cash application exception management solution helps users resolve payment issues faster and with less effort. The service also gives users the ability to route images throughout their organization, pull reports, prioritize critical items for action and categorize transactions according to their business needs.

Mellon Working Capital Solutions, a payments industry leader synonymous with quality performance and known for its innovation and expertise, designs comprehensive solutions through its broad line of cash management services to meet the specialized treasury needs of corporations, nonprofit organizations and financial institutions. Independently-administered customer satisfaction surveys consistently reveal that Mellon WCS continues to distinguish itself from its competition in the areas of operating quality, commitment to cash management and customer service. In addition, Mellon WCS was awarded A rankings for both products and bank perceptions in the 2006 Phoenix-Hecht® Quality IndexTM. Mellon WCS also is the only electronic payments services provider in the U.S. to successfully complete both a Level 3 Capability Maturity Model® (CMM®) assessment for its software engineering practices and attain ISO 9001:2000 Registration.
