Mellon Chooses the NSPCC for UK Charity of the Year

LONDON, 21 June 2007 — Mellon Financial Corporation, the global financial services company, has named the NSPCC as its 2007 UK Charity of the Year.

The NSPCC was chosen following a poll of Mellon's 2,000 employees in the UK, where employees were asked to select from over a hundred charities. The NSPCC will be Mellon's largest single UK charity relationship of 2007 with employees aiming to raise a total of £60,000 over the course of the year.

The relationship, which will run until the spring of 2008, has got off to a flying start with a donation of £25,000.

Jon Little, co-chair of Mellon International, comments: "We are absolutely delighted that the NSPCC has been chosen as Mellon's 2007 UK charity of the year. Record numbers of staff participated in the voting process this year and if this is a gauge on staff support, the NSPCC could well benefit over and above the £60,000 we hope to raise. We look forward to the year ahead and helping provide vital funds for a very deserving cause."
