Rick is a senior research analyst covering the Health Care sector, specifically Healthcare Services (including the operating companies in the long-term care industry), Healthcare REITs and to a more limited extent Medical Technology. He also serves as a portfolio manager for the Global Healthcare REIT strategy.
Prior to joining the firm, Rick worked at Mellon Institutional Asset Management as vice president of strategic planning and business development. Previously, Rick was vice president of acquisitions for Harborside Healthcare Corp., where he focused on acquisitions of long-term healthcare facilities and ancillary service providers, with a particular focus on skilled nursing facilities as well as senior housing communities. Before that, he was a manager of business development and financial analysis in the Risk Services division of Liberty Mutual, responsible for the corporate development function for property and casualty insurance-related opportunities, which included the oversight and eventual sale of a subsidiary involved in post-acute rehabilitation services. Earlier in his career, Rick was a senior analyst at Baldwin & Clarke Corporate Finance, a regional investment bank specializing primarily in private company transactions, where he provided services to several clients in the long-term care industry.
Rick earned an AB in economics from Dartmouth College and a Masters of Science in Finance from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He holds the CFA® designation and is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
