On balance, the crowded calendar of stronger-than-expected economic data in this intermeeting period was generally offset by the unfolding banking crisis. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) proceeded with a 25-basis-point hike with little fanfare. However, the implications for the markets and the path of rates are varied and vast.
